What is Red Light Therapy?

Red Light Therapy goes back to the early 1990’s scientific experiments by NASA that originated with LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). Red Light Therapy was used by scientists to help grow plants in space. The scientists found that the intense light from LEDs helped promote the growth and photosynthesis of plant cells. NASA then joined forces with industry leaders in medicine to develop LED Red Light Therapy. They discovered the LED red light can penetrate the body tissue deeper. Red Light Therapy was then studied for its potential application in medicine, more specifically to find out if Red Light Therapy can increase energy inside the human cells. This made it a perfect treatment for weight loss, wound healing, and pain management as well as providing a number of other surprising benefits for the body.

How Does Red Light Therapy Work?

Red Light Therapy works by feeding LED red light energy into the cells that strengthen the mitochondria. The mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell—it’s where the cell’s energy is created. The energy-carrying molecule found in the cells of all living things is called ATP (adenosine triphosphate). By increasing the function of the mitochondria using Red Light Therapy, a cell can make more ATP. With more energy, cells can function more efficiently, rejuvenate themselves, and repair damage.

The unique light emitted from our LED red light system also causes the fat cell membranes to temporarily alter the permeability of the cell wall. This brief change allows some of the fat contents to seep out to where it can then be processed by the body. This results in far superior inch loss and fat reduction.

Is Red Light Therapy FDA approved?

FDA has clarified explicitly that LED is “ordinary light” and is not subject to FDA regulation. Because LED red light is an ordinary source of visible light, like the sun or a light bulb, the FDA states, “LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) are different from laser diodes and are not subject to the Federal laser product performance standard.”

Is there scientific evidence that red light treatment works?

A lot of scientific research has been carried out in this regard and a plethora of peer-reviewed, scientific papers have been published by doctors and professors of several universities as well as the government.

Which areas of the body can be treated?

There are a wide variety of options based on your individual needs: fat loss, pain reduction, skin rejuvenation, etc.

LEDs can be used on all parts of the body that are well-known to be subject to resistant fat deposits. This includes the fat deposits resistant to diet and exercises: hips, waist, thighs, upper arms, abdomen, and more.

In addition, LEDs can be used anywhere you experience muscular and joint pain; desire collagen and elastin building; seek to reduce the appearance of cellulite, scarring, or other skin conditions; and much more.

Are there any risks or side effects?

LED treatment is safe, non-invasive, and does not cause any scarring, bruising, or any other side effect; however, it is not recommended for pregnant women as a precaution. Otherwise, LED therapy is considered a 100% safe, non-invasive alternative to the invasive and intense processes of traditional liposuction or cool sculpting.

Do I have to follow a special diet?

There is no specific dietary requirement; however, reduction in caloric intake (especially in the form of carbohydrates and added sugars), drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day, reducing or eliminating alcohol consumption, and taking a milk thistle supplement are all recommended as they will help the liver function better in terms of detoxification. Do I have to exercise?

Each session should be followed up with 10 minutes on our vibration plate. The vibration plate increases circulation which will in turn help the body burn or eliminate the fatty acid that is released from the tissues.

How long will results last?

You should think of Red Light Therapy as one spoke on the wheel of healthy living, so results will last as long as you continue maintenance efforts. Maintenance includes healthy eating, drinking lots of water, and exercise. We also recommend that patients schedule maintenance red light sessions to maintain their goals which is why we offer maintenance sessions at a reduced rate following the purchase of a 12 or 20-session package.

What should I expect during a session?

Clients simply lie down for 25 minutes, relax, and enjoy the session. The part of the body being worked upon will be wrapped with the LED red light panels. Following 25 minutes of red lights, clients will stand on a vibration plate for 10 minutes.

How many sessions do I need?

You will begin to see results from your very first session! Best results are seen after a series of 12-20 sessions. Your technician will review the options at your initial consultation. It’s like getting a tan; you want to continue to build on it frequently at first then it’s just maintenance.
